Brandon is an honest-to-God great person and great friend. I actually thought he was my roommate’s friend, until we were hanging out one day and I realized he’s one of mine, too. He sneaks up on you like that. Brandon’s special skill is thinking of every possible thing to say one second before you do, giving him the ability to finish your sentence at any time and deliver the punch line along with you, in a way that’s 10% funnier than when you say it. His other special skills are parallel play, giving thoughtful responses to silly questions, giving silly responses to thoughtful questions, and choosing the treat I most want to eat as his birthday cake. In this case, it is carrot cake (no walnut, as a precaution), with a brown butter cream cheese frosting.
