The Ramos family reminds me of my own family, only more excitable and Filipino. They love each other endlessly and loudly. The joy of spending time with them individually is amplified tenfold when you get more than one of them. Alix’s bridal shower—which felt more like a Ramos family reunion than anything else—was a gorgeous occasion, and it was a genuine pleasure to celebrate Alix and Hershel’s upcoming wedding with this group. The adoration of many of Alix’s family members brought this cake, certainly the prettiest I’ve made so far, into being. As requested, I made (another) lemony carrot cake with brown butter cream cheese frosting (and, for the record, I received more than one rave review!).
